Imphal, July 18 2025: Thangmeiband MLA Khumukcham Joykisan on Friday laid the foundation stone for installation of an elevator of Manipur Press Club, here.

Replying to media query on the sidelines of the ceremony, MLA Joykisan confided that central leaders are keen on restoring a popular government in Manipur, though no such remarks have been formally declared by any central leader so far.

The proposed extension of President's Rule in the state could be a routine matter but having a popular government is inevitable even if the timeframe could not be ascertained at the juncture, conceded the MLA .

He, however, maintained that everything will come to public domain when the Parliament session commences.

Joykisan also expressed concern over politicisation of President's Rule.

While assuring his continued support for journalist community, MLA Joykisan appreciated the role of media in times of crisis and in promoting peace and stability.

He appealed to journalists to continue their service with commitment and integrity, stating that the role of media is more crucial than ever in restoring peace and harmony in Manipur.

According to MLA Joykisan, the initial plan was to install a G3 type elevator at Manipur Press Club building but G4 model with the capacity of eight persons will be installed after consultation with technical experts.

The foundation stone laying ceremony was also attended by All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) president A Bhakta, functionaries of the union and journalists.
