Moreh, July 15 2026:
Assam Rifles organised a Veteran Outreach and Welfare Mela at Moreh in Tengnoupal district on Wednesday to strengthen its long standing association with the veteran community and border residents while extending essential welfare services to remote areas.
As per a statement issued by IGAR (South), the programme brought together 40 ex-servicemen, 15 Veer Naris and 20 local youths, providing a platform to address welfare-related grievances, facilitate interaction and improve access to various services.
A major highlight of the event was a mega medical camp conducted by specialist healthcare teams of Assam Rifles.
The camp offered comprehensive health check-ups, medical consultations and free distribution of essential medicines, enhancing access to preventive healthcare in the border town.
Furthermore, to ease the procurement of daily necessities, a Canteen Stores Department (CSD) extension counter was established, enabling eligible veterans and Veer Naris to purchase authorised household commodities close to home.
The mela also featured a vibrant motivational interaction where serving Assam Rifles personnel engaged with the veterans and local youth.
The interaction encouraged young participants to uphold the ideals of patriotism, discipline and selfless service while inspiring them to consider a career in the Armed Forces.
