'New consensual leader needed'

Lamlai MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha has stated that selecting a leader for a popular Government in Manipur requires consensus among all BJP MLAs, and a decision cannot be made by just eight party MLAs.
He made the statement during a press briefing at Patsoi MLA Sapam Kunjakeswor's residence at Tera Bazar today, attended by six other BJP MLAs: Yumnam Khemchand, Govindas Konthoujam, Kh Joykisan, S Rajen, Karam Shyam and Sapam Kunjakeswor.
Addressing the media, Ibomcha said that eight BJP MLAs, including himself, Yumnam Khemchand, Govindas Konthoujam, Kh Joykisan, Dr Y Radheshyam, S Rajen, Karam Shyam, and Sapam Kunjakeswor met at the Patsoi MLA's residence yesterday to discuss forming a Government in Manipur, which is currently under President's Rule.
Ibomcha expressed optimism that the Centre and BJP MLAs understand the people's sentiment, and a new Government might be formed in Manipur soon.
Further stating that the Centre has been working to make the highways accessible to all, resettle the people in relief camps and establish a popular Government in the State, the MLA added that the Centre is also making effort to facilitate another round of dialogue between the Meitei and Kuki stakeholders Manipur has been under President's Rule since February 13, and the State BJP will cooperate with the Centre's initiatives aimed at resolving the crisis, he said.
Clarifying that yesterday's meeting was about assisting the Centre in forming a new Government he reiterated that just eight party MLAs cannot decide who should head the Government.
He went on to state that the Chief Minister of the new Government would be chosen by the Centre as per the BJP culture.
Saying that the party MLAs have been cooperating with the Centre to establish a new Government and restore normalcy in the State, Ibomcha appealed to the people to cooperate with the Centre in resolving the crisis.
