Imphal, July 10 2025:
Informing that the syllabus and curriculum for the Sanamahi Study Centre have been initiated following its approval for establishment at Manipur University of Culture (MUC) and that classes will commence soon, Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) has appealed to the public to extend their support towards the inclusion of the Sanamahi religion in the academic sphere.
The mid-term examination for the six-month certificate course On Waree Leeba, currently being conducted at the MUC, commenced on Thursday.
A total of 32 students participated in the exam, with the theory session held in the morning and practical session in the evening.
Speaking to reporters at the Haying Khongbal Uphong Yumpham Sanamahi Shanglen in connection with the mid-term exam, LSTB member secretary Meisnam Shivadutta Luwang pointed out that Sanamahi religion is not limited to the performance of religious rituals by its devout followers but has become an integral part of the broader discourse on human culture and tradition, meriting inclusion in academic exploration.
He appealed to the public to extend support and cooperation during this crucial time, as the Sanamahi religion is being integrated into academic studies.
"With collective support, the Sanamahi religion will attain the recognition it deserves and become indispensable in discussions on human culture and tradition," he added.
Shivadutta further informed that a library has been established within the MUC campus.
He urged that the Sanamahi Shanglen be utilised for field assessment activities once the Sanamahi Study Centre becomes fully operational and theory classes are underway.
He also stressed that the Sanamahi Shanglen should not be viewed solely as a place of worship.
"It is gradually being developed into an institution of learning and research," he said.
