Arms recovered, UG cadres arrested

Imphal, May 10 2025:
Security forces recovered a cache of arms and explosives and arrested several active members of banned armed organisations during separate operations conducted in different parts of the state, according to a statement from the Police Control Room.
On May 8, security personnel intercepted two unidentified individuals attempting to cross the Indo-Myanmar border near Border Pillar 75 in T Minou area under Moreh police station in Tengnoupal district.
The duo fled the scene, abandoning two gunny bags.

A subsequent search led to the recovery of one AK-56 rifle with a magazine, one INSAS rifle with two magazines, one carbine gun with a magazine, six improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two hand grenades, 171 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, and 30 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition.
In a separate operation on Friday, police arrested two active members of the proscribed Pambei-led United National Liberation Front (UNLF) from Uripok Khoisnam Leikai in front of the Central Dental Clinic under Imphal PS in Imphal West district.
The arrested individuals were identified as Kshetrimayum Blish alias Lamyanba (20) of Kwakeithel Akham Leikai, Imphal West, and Pebam Jet Singh (26) of Napet Palli Maning Leikai, Imphal East.
Police said that the two were involved in extortion targeting schools, government officials, and the general public in Imphal area.
Items recovered from them included five mobile phones, a wallet containing Rs 250, an Aadhaar card, and a four-wheeler vehicle.
On the same day, security forces apprehended one active member of Revolutionary People's Front/People's Liberation.
Army (RPF/PLA) from a rented house at Sekmai Awang Leikai under Sekmai PS Imphal West, The individual, identified as Moirangthem Suraj Meetei alias Amujao (31) of Khabam Lamkhai, Imphal East-, was found in possession of a mobile phone, a wallet containing Rs 300, and an Aadhaar card.
Separately, on May 8, police recovered two stolen vehicles during a special drive against anti-social elements.
