12 UG cadres netted; arms, ammo recovered

Imphal, May 09 2025:
In a major crackdown on underground outfits operating in the state, state and central security forces arrested 12 cadres and members of various proscribed organisations; including KCP (MFL), KCP (Noyon), KCP (PWG), and Pambei-led UNLF, over the past two days from different valley districts.
Several arms, ammunition, explosives, cash, and communication devices were also recovered during the operations.
On Thursday, four active members of KCP (MFL) were arrested from Lamding Khumanthem Leikai under Thoubal police station, Thoubal district.
The arrested persons have been identified as Ningthoujam Amitra Singh alias Avatar (29) of Khordak Nongmaikhong Awang Leikai, Phairembam Manglemnganba Meitei alias Pibarel (21) of Lamlongei, Chesaba Umar Ali (22) of Irong Chesaba, and Yumnam Angaosana Singh alias Thoibi (21) of Tronglaobi Makha Leikai.
They were allegedly involved in extortion, kidnapping, and monetary demands from banks and government offices.
Security forces seized one 9 mm country-made pistol with magazine, live rounds, a hand grenade, multiple mobile phones, and SIM cards from their possession.
On the same day, a cadre of KCP (Noyon), identified as Yumnam Bidyasagar Meitei alias Sagar (22) of Nambol Ishok Ward No 1, Mamang Leikai, Bishnupur district, was arrested from Sekmai Bazar under Sekmai PS, Imphal West district.
Police also apprehended two active members of KCP (PWG) on Thursday.
Sagolsem Bobo Meetei (26) of Pukhao Laipham Maning Leikai was arrested from near the rowing canal at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, while the other, Shanjenbam Chan-dramani Singh alias Boinao alias Tada alias Yambung (52) of Narankonjin Makha Leikai, currently residing at Lilong Chajing Mamang Leikai, was arrested from Imphal West.
Both were allegedly involved in extortion activities.
Mobile phones, Aadhaar cards, cash, a wallet, and a two-wheeler were seized from them.
On May 7, three cadres of the Pambei-led UNLF were arrested from Lilong Bridge along NH-102 under Lilong PS, Thoubal district, for their involvement in the kidnapping of one Md Sad-am Hussain (27) of Lilong Ushoipokpi Jharaorok from RIMS complex, Lamphel.
The arrested cadres were identified as Laishram Amarjit Singh alias Tompok (36) of Yairipok Laimanai, Khumanthem Motilal Singh (26) of Wangoo Mamang Sabal, and Yumnam Hitler Meitei alias Amu (36) of Singjamei Kshetri Leikai.
The victim was subsequently rescued.
Recovered items included a 9mm pistol with magazine and live rounds, mobile phones, cash amounting to Rs 20,000, wallets, Aadhaar cards, a four-wheeler, and a sling bag.
In a similar operation on May 7, one active member of KCP (PWG), identified as Khundrakpam Naresh Singh alias Boicha (30) of Ningthoukhong Kha Keirung-ba Leikai Ward No 7, Bishnupur district, was arrested from an area under Bishnupur PS for involvement in extortion.
A mobile phone with two SIM cards was seized.
In another operation on the same day, one active member of KCP (Noyon), identified as Hidam Aboy Singh alias Atapa (30) of Nongren Maning Leikai, was arrested from his residence under Lamlai PS, Imphal East district.
One mobile phone was recovered from him.
