Imphal, May 04 2025:
The people of Manipur are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the President's Rule in the state considering its inefficacy.
As such, it is likely that a new government would soon be formed in the state, said Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Th Satyabrata.
Responding to posers from the media during the inauguration of Apunba Meira Shang (shed) at Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi on Sunday, Satyabrata confirmed that he held meetings with the Governor over the past few days to discuss the current situation in the state.
However, forming a new popular government is possible only when the MLAs raised the matter and stake claim to the Governor.
Thus, he urged all to wait until the MLAs formally approach the Governor.
Observing that the people are getting frustrated with the imposition of the President's Rule in the state, especially when it has been unable to bring any changes, the speaker said that it is the wish of the people to form a popular government.
For this, the MLAs are working hard.
21 MLAs have submitted written requests to the prime minister and home minister to withdraw the President's Rule so as to form a new government, as has been reported in the media.
Sharing his views on the matter, Satyabrata emphasised the need for a new government with regard to the situation in Manipur.
While it is uncertain how effective the President 's Rule has been, what the people of Manipur want is for the.
process to speed up and for restoration of peace and normalcy in the state as soon as possible.
However, in the understanding of the people, every process has been slowed down and as such, there is a need for a new government, he remarked.
