Protestors throng 28 AR post, decry attack on IRB post

Imphal, September 02 2024: Locals of Sinam, Yumnam Khunou, Yumnam Patlou, Sambei, Chingkhu and Khundrakpam villages thronged the 28 Assam Rifles camp at Sagolmang on Monday decrying Kuki militants' attack on an IRB post on Monday morning.

According to Village Protection Force, Sinam member Toijam Somorjit, the Kuki militants attacked the IRB post atop Meikhang hill on Monday around 4 am using drones to drop bombs.

He questioned inaction of 16, 22 and 28 Assam Rifles posts in the vicinity of Monday's attack.

Drone bombing is akin to air strike and this is an act of terrorism, he added.

He further said that during the demonstration in front of the 28 AR post, the commandant told the protestors that they are also perturbed by the drone bombing and high level security meetings are being convened to thwart such drone bombings.

As of now, there is no weapon system to take down these bomb carrying drones, the commandant told the protestors while assuring to use their available resources to prevent further attacks.

He also told them that they have got order to shoot down any civilians drones, Somorjit said.
