UG cadres held; weapons, stolen vehicles recovered

Imphal, May 02 2025:
A series of operations by police and central security forces has resulted in the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and vehicles, along with arrests of active members of different UG organisations and suspects involved in criminal activities across the state.
On Thursday, security forces apprehended one 19-year-old Khundongbam Kalambiya Singh, a cadre of People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-Pro), from near Arong Bridge in Thoubal district.
Kalambiya was reportedly involved in extortion activities in Thoubal district.
A mobile phone, wallet, Aadhaar card, PAN card, and a two-wheeler were seized from his possession.
In another operation the same day, police arrested a PREPAK-Pro cadre, identified as Chandramani Chan-dam (42) from Lairenkabi Maning Leikai under Lamsang police station, Imphal West district.
Earlier on Wednesday, police made several recoveries during, a special drive aimed at redovering stolen and snatched vehicles.
Seven vehicles were recovered, and tinted glasses were removed from 139 vehicles in a crackdown across the state.
On the same day, the police also arrested one Sinthangamba Konsham Mangang (25) of Heirok Part III, Thoubal district.
According to police, he is a serial offender, who was involved in multiple mob-related incidents, including attacks on government offices and incidents across Imphal West.
Security forces also apprehended an active member of the United Peoples Party of Kangleipak (UPPK), identified as Chingakham Priyobarta (31) from Wangkhei Andro Parking near WAL United Youth Club on Wednesday.
Additionally, another active member of Kangleipak Communist Party (MFL), named as Naorem Punshiba (20) was arrested from Heirok Part-III, along with a .32 pistol, magazine, and three rounds.
Three active members of the Revolutionary People's Front/People's Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) and one associate involved in anti-national activities were also rounded up on Wednesday, from MG Avenue area, Imphal West district.
The arrested individuals were identified as Moirangthem Chaobi (50), Longjam Birabal (32), and Khangembam Sovas (44), and their associate as Naorem Shyamkumar (40) Security forces seized seven mobile phones, a wallet, two Aadhaar cards, a driving license, Rs 4,560 in cash, and a four-wheeler from their possession.
In addition, security forces apprehended one Waikhom Rohit Singh (33), from Thoubal Pakhangkhong Leirak, in connection with a case handled by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Imphal.
On the same day, security forces recovered eight improvised explosive devices (IEDs), eight locally made hand grenades, 25 electric detonators, and several rounds of ammunition in Saivom village area, Tengnoupal district.
Three bunkers were also destroyed during the operation.
