17 Scouts & Guides honoured with Rajya Puraskar Award

Imphal, November 16 2017:
Governor Dr Najma Heptulla distributed certificates of honour to 17 Manipur State Bharat Scouts & Guides belonging to different districts including Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Senapati and Imphal West in connection with the 9th Governor Rally Rajya Puraskar Distribution Ceremony held today at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan.
The Rajya Puraskar awardees are.
Chunchamliu Gonroei Norma YL, Sopemchon Shingnaisui, Theiya Varam, Th Maraila Christina, Sandhyarani Thoudem, Ksh Lanleima Chanu, Dimring Mehnaaz, Thounaojam Vishal, Irom Bushan Singh, Aadarsh Haobijam, Gaithaochung Pamei, Jaikaolung Pamei, Gailanguang Kamei, Kazipkhui Raiping, Vareiso Hungyo and Arnold Naorem.
Education Minister Th Radheshyam and State Chief Commissioner of Bharat State Scouts & Guides, Th Ibopishak Singh were also present at the occasion as presidium members.
Assistant Commissioner, Manipur Bharat State Scouts & Guides, Diki Dona Bhutia presented scarves to the dignitaries while a troupe of scouts and guides blew away the minds of the audience with a beautiful fusion of tribal & maibi dance performance.
A book titled " Guide Book to Scout Masters" translated in Manipuri by Th Ibopishak was released by the Governor during the function.
Highlighting the main objective of the Scouts' movement as based on the principle "Duty to God, Duty to others and Duty to Self', Najma Heptulla said lhat it is a system of progressive self-education through "Promise and Law, Learning by Doing" .
She recalled the historic origin of the movement in 1988 in the State by merging different Scouts and Guides associations working under different banners.
Supporting the movement, she asked as to why not the training of NCC Scouts and Guides be made compulsory in Government schools.
She congratulated the Rajya Puraskar awardees and encouraged them to continue serving the State in future.
