Shija Hospitals conduct breast & thyroid cancer awareness programme at LFS

Shija Hospitals & Research Institute, in collaboration with Little Flower School, Imphal, organised a 1-day awareness programme on breast and thyroid cancer for the school's teaching and nonteaching staff on Thursday.
The session was conducted by Dr Ajit Lukram, Consultant, Shija Breast & Thyroid Clinic and Fellow in Colorectal, Breast & Endocrine Surgery, Carlisle, United Kingdom.
Around 70 teaching and non-teaching staff participated.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Ajit Lukram highlighted risk factors associated with breast cancer and stressed the importance of regular selfbreast examination, advising women to begin the practice from age 16.He also recommended that women aged 40 and above undergo a mammogram once every three years for early detection.
Speaking on thyroid health, he discussed common signs and symptoms of thyroid disorders and underlined the need for timely diagnosis and appropriate medical care.
As part of the initiative, Shija Hospitals announced free consultations with Dr Ajit Lukram for all teaching and non-teaching staff of the school.
The programme aimed to improve awareness on breast and thyroid health and encourage early screening and prompt treatment, reflecting Shija's commitment to preventive healthcare.
