Heavy rainfall forecast for Senapati, adjoining districts

Senapati, May 29 2025: As per the Special Bulletin issued Thursday by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the National Weather Forecasting Centre has forecast extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and squally winds from 8.30 am Friday till June 3 in Senapati and adjoining districts.

In view of the extreme weather condition, the Senapati district administration has advised the people to strictly follow safety protocols and stay informed on follow-up weather forecasts and alerts issued by local and national authorities.

Among other safety measures, the denizens have been urged to avoid travelling during periods of intense rainfall or wind, check for traffic congestion and advisories before departure, not to take shelter under trees or stay near metal objects during thunderstorms and lightning, reinforce and secure loose objects in and around one's home, postpone outdoor activities including farming and fishing until the situation improves, stay away from vulnerable structures, flood-prone zones, rivers, and steep slopes, unplug electrical appliances and avoid using electronic devices during lightning.
