VDF bodies urge Govt to address difficulties

Imphal West District VDF Employees' Association (IWDVDFEWA) and Imphal East District VDF Welfare Association (IEVDFWA) have urged the state government to look into the inconveniences faced by VDF personnel at the earliest.
In a release, IWDVDFEWA publicity secretary Y Push-paraj Singh informed that the Association held a meeting on Sunday and appreciated resolution of the state cabinet on July 12 to allow VDF personnel transferrable to every part of the state.
However, for the Force to be transferrable, a complete service rules or RR need to be prepared, it stressed.
The meeting also urged for increasing the monthly pay from Rs 10,000, which is not enough to look after their family or pay for their children's education or care for elderly parents.
It further appealed to the government to take an exact decision on the matter by July 31, failing which IWDVDFEWA will extend full support to all action or steps taken up by All Manipur VDF Employees' Association.
Meanwhile, IEVDFWA on Monday provided monetary assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to families of deceased VDF personnel L Jenisker Meitei and Chongtham Ranjan Singh posted at Reserve Line/Imphal East (RL/IE).
In a press release, IEVDF-WA general secretary (admin) Md Sirajuddin informed that the assistance was provided from the Association's welfare fund.
Imphal East SP K Meghachandra along with RL reserve inspector Kh Bobocha and members of the Association visited the residences of Jenisker and Ranjan at Wangkhei Hijam Leirak and Potshangbam Khunou respectively to hand over the assistance to the respective families.
Urging the government to provide government job to the surviving families of deceased VDF personnel, Md Sirajuddin also appealed to the government to increase the honorarium paid to VDF personnel, in view of role of the personnel in maintaining the law and order in the state tirelessly.
