Imphal, May 22 2026: An awareness programme on cervical cancer was successfully conducted today at the mini auditorium of JNIMS, Porompat.

The programme was organised by Lions International District 322D through Lions Club of Imphal Golden Pride, Lions Club of Imphal Ningol Collective, Lions Club of Imphal Leimarol, Lions Club of Imphal Greater, and Lions & Leo Club of Oinam, in collaboration with the Department of OBGYN, Gyne-Oncology Unit, JNIMS.

Speaking at the event, Ranjita Leimapokpam.

general secretary of Lions Club of Imphal Golden Pride, stressed the need for public awareness on the causes, effects, and prevention of cervical cancer.

She said people must know about available vaccines, including those provided free by the Government, and when to get them, adding that such knowledge can help reduce cases of the disease.

Gynae-oncologist Dr Helen Kamei delivered the expert session, highlighting prevention and early detection.

Around 150 participants, including health professionals, attended the programme" .
