TNCL alleges PWD non-compliance with RTI on road works

Ukhrul, January 20 2026: The Tangkhul Naga Contractor Long (TNCL) has expressed concern over the Public Works Department (PWD), Manipur, for allegedly failing to provide information sought under the RTI Act, 2005, regarding road construction work in Ukhrul and Kamjong.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, the association stated that despite applications filed under Section 6 of the RTI Act and subsequent appeals under Section 19 by residents of Ukhrul, the concerned Ukhrul Division and authority has not furnished details related to rigid pavement works with thin white topping at the district headquarters.

The TNCL termed the lack of transparency disheartening and recalled that it had adopted a resolution on September 5, 2025, not to bid below scheduled rates.

It also urged the authorities not to accept abnormally low bids without proper justification.
