Kakching, October 14 2025: Kakching Forest Range staff seized ten bird traps during a drive at Lousi Pat today.

The initiative was carried out under the supervision of Dr Leishangthem Jeeceelee, DFO, Thoubal Forest Division.

The team was led by Pallel Beat Officer Nameirakpam Bikramjit and Forester H Sanamatum under the guidance of Kakching Forest Range, Range Officer Sundar Huidrom.

Speaking in this connection, Sundar Huidrom said that as winter approaches, it is time for migratory birds to roost in the wetlands of the State.

Thus, he made a request to stop laying traps in the wetlands or fields to capture these birds.

Anyone found setting such traps can be punished under the Wildlife (Protection) Act of 1972, he added.
