Imphal, June 12 2025:
All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association (AMRPSWA) has urged authorities concerned to take necessary steps to safeguard the academic futures of students, who are the future pillars of society, and to prevent them from straying off course.
In a statement, AMRPSWA secretary P Romen Singh expressed concern over the current situation in the state, stating that it has significantly affected students' ability to pursue their studies.
He noted that after schools went on summer vacation, they remained closed due to the recent flooding in the state.
Schools were briefly reopened and regular classes resumed only to be shut down again due to the ongoing crisis.
The statement pointed out" that the prolonged disruption has had a major impact on the student community and raised concerns that students could be led astray if the situation persists.
As a result, the association appealed to authorities concerned to ensure that students are involved in protests or agitations only when absolutely necessary and when the entire population of Manipur is equally engaged.
It stressed the importance of safeguarding students' academic careers and preventing further setbacks.
The association also stated that it would extend its support to causes that are genuine, but urged all parties not to disturb the academic environment unless absolutely unavoidable.
