₹ 2.63 Cr settled in 2nd National Lok Adalat

A total of Rs 2.63 crore was settled through amicable resolution during the second National Lok Adalat of 2025, held across all district courts and the High Court of Manipur on Saturday.
The Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA), in coordination with the High Court Legal Services Committee and District Legal Services Authorities, organised the event as part of a nationwide initiative to promote alternative dispute resolution.
Justice A Bimol Singh and Justice A Guneshwar Sharma of the High-Court of Manipur visited the Lok Adalat sittings at Lamphel Court Complex, where they handed over awards to some of the parties and commended participants for their cooperation.

Addressing the media, MASLSA chairman Justice Bimol Singh said that 3,043 cases had been listed for settlement across the state which included both pre-litigation and pending civil matters such as matrimonial disputes, bank recovery cases, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) cases, negotiable instrument cases, land acquisition matters, and disputes related to utility bills.
He emphasised that the awards passed by Lok Ada-lats are final and binding, and no appeal lies against them, making the forum an efficient and cost-effective alternative to traditional litigation.
He urged the public to bring their pending and pre-litigation matters to the notice of the appropriate Legal Services Authorities to be listed in the next Lok Adalat.
A total of 236 cases were resolved during the day, with the cumulative settlement amount reaching Rs 2,63,46,355 .
At the Lamphel Court Complex, three benches were chaired by district and sessions judge Imphal West Y Rother, special judge (ND&PS) Monalisa Maibam, and chief judicial magistrate Imphal East Sorokhaibam Sadananda.
Other members included judicial officers, public prosecutors, legal aid counsels, police officers, and advocates.
At the High Court of Manipur, registrar general Ojesh Mutum presided over the bench, assisted by registrar (judicial) Kh Ajit Singh and joint director of Manipur Judicial Academy M Manojkumar Singh.
Member secretary of MASLSA, Alek Muivah, announced that the riext National Lok Adalat will be held on September 13, 2025, and appealed to the public to make use of the opportunity.
