Ukhrul, February 09 2026:
Assam Rifles on Monday conducted a distribution programme under Operation Sadbhavna at Eklavya Model Residential School, Tharang, New Tusom, and Tusom CV Upper Primary School.
The initiative provided chairs with integrated writing bases and essential stationery items to strengthen classroom infrastructure and directly support students' academic needs in these remote border villages.
According to IGAR (South), the event was attended by school authorities, village, elders, headmen, staff, children, and members of the local community, ensuring transparency and inclusivity in the distribution process.
A total of troops and officials from Assam Rifles participated in the programme, formally handing over the scholastic materials and seating arrangements to the schools.
Around 200 students across both institutions are expected to benefit from the improved facilities, which will enhance classroom efficiency, encourage regular attendance, and create a more conducive learning environment.
Village representatives and school staff expressed their gratitude for the timely assistance, noting its importance in bridging educational gaps in far-flung areas of Manipur.
By reinforcing essential infrastructure and fostering community participation, the initiative highlights the continuing role of Assam Rifles in promoting education and strengthening civil-society cooperation across the hill districts.
