Girl stabs youth to death after quarrel

One Meitei Salai Thiyam (21) s/o Th Kanina of Govindajee Road Palace Compound succumbed to injuries suffered in stabbing by a girl following a heated argument at Thanga Khunjem under Keibul police station on Sunday.
The Salai Thiyam was rushed to Asian Hospital for treatment after being stabbed on his back, but succumbed on the way.
Meanwhile, the accused girl and her male companion surrendered to Nambol police station along with the knife used in the crime.
The girl has been identified as Loitongbam Pinky Devi (20) d/o (L) Nilamani of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai, and her male companion as Leishangthem Lanchenba Singh (20) s/o (L) Loken of Hiyangthang Makha Leikai.
According to a police report, Pinky and Lanchenba came to Thangja Khunjem around 12.30 pm Sunday.
Meitei Salai Thiyam also came to the location with three of his friends for sorting out issues they had with each other.
However, an argument ensued between the two groups and Pinky stabbed Salai Thiyam on his back.
Pinky had reportedly got possession of the knife to peel pineapple during the Kanglen festival on Saturday and carrying the same in her bag since then.
Meanwhile, Salai Thiyam's body is being kept at RIMS morgue for post mortem examination.
Keibul PS has registered a case in this regard while Nambol PS has over the custody of Pinky and Lanchenba to Keibul PS for further investigation.
According to sources, the stabbing took place following a confrontation between the victim and the accused during a group outing.
Reports indicate that the victim, along with at least three friends and his current girlfriend, had visited Moirang Sendra, where Pinky arrived with a male friend, purportedly to clear lingering disputes with the victim.
However, tensions escalated during the interaction, leading to an argument between Salai Thiyam and Pinky, with the latter allegedly taking out a knife from her bag and stabbing Salai Thiyam.
He was immediately rushed to the Community Health Centre for first aid.
Due to the rapid deterioration of his condition, he was transferred to Asian Hospital, Kwakeithel, but was declared brought dead.
Both the victim and the accused are said to be college students.
