Assam Rifles concludes vocational tailoring training for widows of ex-servicemen in Ukhrul

Assam Rifles successfully concluded a Vocational Tailoring Training Programme for widows of Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen at Ukhrul district, Manipur, on Wednesday.
According to a release issued by the IGAR (South), the initiative was organised as part of the Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme and was attended by officials and troops of the force.
The training programme, conducted from January 7 to February 3, 2026, provided structured, hands-on instruction in tailoring skills.
Professional instructors from the civil sector imparted training in basic and advanced tailoring techniques, garment construction and the operation and maintenance of sewing equipment.
A total of 25 widows of Ex-Servicemen and Assam Rifles personnel from the Ukhrul region participated in the course.
The programme aimed to equip participants with employable vocational skills to enable sustainable livelihood opportunities and financial self-reliance.
During the interaction, the senior official of Assam Rifles emphasised the importance of skill development, dignity of labour and self-reliance, reiterating the organisation's commitment to the welfare of veterans' families and women empowerment initiatives.
Certificates were distributed to all participants upon successful completion of the training.
Such initiatives reflect Assam Rifles' continued efforts towards community outreach, civil-military cooperation and socioeconomic upliftment of vulnerable sections of society in Manipur, reaffirming its role in fostering welfare and empowerment in remote regions.
