Imphal, September 02 2024:
The attack by Kuki-Zo militants using weaponised drones at Koutruk and Kadangband on Sunday was a complete dishonour of the Manipur government and it is time for state government to take decisive action with instinct instead of giving lip-service only, stated All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) president Nando Luwang.
Addressing media persons at AMUCO office Monday, Nando said the attack at Koutruk and Kadangband has proven wrong of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's claim of gradual return of peace and normalcy in Manipur.
The violence was seen as communal riot in the initial phase but it is now clear that Kuki-Zo immigrants from Myanmar are attacking the state, he said.
According to Nando, Kuki-Zo immigrants from Myanmar are able to attack the state due to inaction by the government of India and central forces.
Citing an example, the AMUCO president said all the attacks on the state by Kuki-Zo militants from the very first day using sophisticated weapons and bombs were from areas where central security forces are de ployed.
This has made very clear that the government of India engineered the violence and allowing it to protract, Nando alleged.
The hidden agenda of the government of India is to suppress indigenous peoples of the land and insurgent groups fighting to restore the lost sovereignty of Manipur.
Interlinking the agenda witty the present crisis should be avoided as ending the present conflict must be based on facts, Nando said and urged the Government of India to keep aside the two agenda and work sincerely to resolve the crisis.
Questioning the number of weapons recovered from the hills except the few abandoned by Kuki-Zo militants, Nando said three out of four weapons recovered so far are from the valley.
He said that the attack by Kuki-Zo militants at Koutruk and Kadangband using drones was against international norms as such high-end technology are usually used when countries are in conflict.
The acts of the Kuki-Zo militants were total disregard of state government and state forces and accordingly state government must act now to demonstrate that there is a popular government in Manipur, he added.
Terming the evolving situation in Manipur as critical, the AMUCO president appealed ministers and MLAs not take lightly people's blood and tears so as to avert facing unwanted consequences.
The AMUCO president further said that as security advisor Kuldiep Singh has failed to contain the violence he has no moral right remain in office now.
Nevertheless, the AMUCO president appealed to the security advisor to take up decisive action against Kuki-Zo militants violating international norms.
While appealing to state forces to demonstrate their courage and strength as Kuki-Zo militants have already dishonoured them, Nando Lu-wang said village volunteers protected people with their lives at stake when state and central forces were unable to do so.
He also said that AMUCO will stand firmly with village volunteers and security forces should not act against them.
