AR marks National Girl Child Day with community-centered initiatives across State

Assam Rifles commemorated National Girl Child Day on January 24, 2026, with a series of impactful initiatives across Manipur, focusing on promoting awareness about the rights, education, and empowerment of girls.
As per a release issued by HQ IGAR (South), the celebrations began on January 20, with a sapling plantation drive at Waikhong, Kakching district, under the theme "Empowering Girls for a Bright Future".
A total of 200 saplings were planted within Waikhong Government School premises, symbolizing the nurturing of both nature and future generations.
The event drew participation from 150 students, 25 NCC cadets, and 25 civilians, including CSOs and Meira Paibis, alongside Assam Rifles personnel.
On January 24, multiple programs were conducted across districts.
At Ukhrul Garrison, Ukhrul district, Assam Rifles sensitized the community on child protection, emphasizing early identification of abuse indicators, preventive measures, and legal safeguards.
The session engaged 40 school students and 20 local women, encouraging open communication and timely reporting of concerns.
At Komlakhong in Imphal West district, 20 girl students from Moral Guidance School and Phuboukchao High School participated in an interactive program focusing on education, self-confidence, health, and equal opportunities.
A creative drawing competition followed, with prizes awarded to the best performers, inspiring young minds to express their aspirations for empowerment.
Meanwhile, at Kampat village in Kamjong district, "A Day with Company Commander" brought together 25 children and a teacher in an atmosphere of fun learning and community bonding.
Activities included motivational interaction on career opportunities in the Armed Forces, poetry recitation, sack race, and musical chair, fostering unity, inspiration, and social responsibility.
These initiatives demonstrated Assam Rifles' commitment to promoting girl child empowerment, education, and environmental responsibility in Manipur.
