AIMS celebrates 14th foundation day

Imphal, May 22 2026: The 14th Foundation Day of Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) was observed today at its Mayai Loishang in Kwakeithel.

Dr Naorem Sanatomba, Assistant Professor, Department of Manipuri, Manipur University, attended as chief guest, while AIMS president Longjam Thonglen presided.

LIPUL president Somorendro Thokchom, IKAL president Naorem Memma.

and Leichal president Kamala were guests of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Longjam Thonglen extended greetings to the people of Manipur.

He said privatisation of education has led to the decline of Government schools, with only a few like TG, CC, Ibotonsana, Johnstone, Keishamthong, and Wangkhei High School retaining recognition.

He noted that while budgets for education increase yearly, benefits rarely reach schools in remote and border areas due to political interference and reluctance of teachers to accept postings there.

Urging deployment of teachers where students are present, he pointed out that many Government schools in Wangoo, Sagang, Andro, and Itham Moirangpurel have students but lack adequate staff.

He called on the Government and teachers to work sincerely to build a unified society through quality education for all.
