Int'l Day of Yoga observed across state

Manipur joined the rest of the world in observing the International Day of Yoga with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla leading the people in performing the yoga 'asanas' at the state-level observance at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor emphasised that yoga should become an everyday habit in lives of the people as its regular practice can ensure mental wellbeing and health body.
This year's International Day of Yoga is being observed under the theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health' .
The theme also reflects the idea of 'Humanity 2.0', shared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which encourages a more balanced and thoughtful way of living.
The event was participated by over 900 individuals, including students, public servants, yoga enthusiasts, security personnel and members of the public.
Meanwhile, Yoga Day was also observed at the Raj Bhavan, where Governor led the officials and staff in a yoga session in a serene and disciplined setting, a release by PRO Raj Bhavan said.
On the other hand, Bishnupur district administration under the guidance of Bishnupur DC Pooja Elangbam observed International Yoga Day at Kyamba Ningshing Shanglen, Bishnupur.
The yoga session was led by Bishnupur District Yoga Assana Sports Association secretary RK Birendra.
The programme was attended by Bishnupur ADM T Opendro, various district level officers (DLOs) and members of the yoga association.
In addition to the main event, line departments of the district also marked the day by organising yoga sessions at different locations.
On the other hand, International Yoga Day was celebrated across Pherzawl district to promote the physical and mental health benefits of yoga.
Zonal Education Office (ZEO), Pherzawl, organised a yoga session at its camp office where deputy inspectors of schools, assistant inspectors and other staff participated, to highlight the numerous benefits of yoga.
Similarly, officials and staff of Community Health Centre (CHC), Parbung and Primary Health Centre (PHC), Patpuihmun demonstrated various yoga postures at their respective premises to showcase yoga's positive impact on health.
Pherzawl Police also joined the celebrations by organising a dedicated yoga session for its personnel at Parbung police station.
Meanwhile, the Pherzawl district administration continued the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) campaign at Ankhasuo village under Vangai block.
A multi-departmental Benefit Saturation Camp was set up to facilitate easy access to various government welfare schemes and services for the residents.
An IEC campaign on government schemes was also conducted alongside the DAJGUA campaign to raise awareness among the people.
