Institutions celebrate International Dav of Yoga

Apart from various institutions and non-governmental organisations, Department of Tourism celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2024 under the year's theme "Yoga for Self and Society" at Marjing Polo Complex, Heingang in Imphal East district on Friday.
Chief secretary Dr Vineet Joshi, commissioner (Tourism) Devesh Deval, director (Tourism) W Ibohal, and India Tourism, Imphal assistant director Ngangkham Lilabati attended the event as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
The celebration featured a series of yoga sessions, led by yoga instructor Khangenbam Jyoti Devi, aimed at promoting physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga.
Attendees including dignitaries, yoga enthusiast and celebrities, participated in various yoga practices and workshops, reinforcing the day s message of individual and societal well-being.
The 10th "International Day of Yoga" under the theme "Yoga for Self and Society" was also celebrated by Thoubal district administration at District Hospital, three Community Health Centres (CHCs), eight Primary Health Centres (PHCs), two Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs) and 37 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (Health and Wellness Centres) located at Thoubal Khunou, Athokpam, Tentha, Kiyam Litanpok, Thokchom Bengi and Thoubal Kshetri Leikai among others, on Friday.
The event was held to strengthen efforts to build a healthy nation with active participation from the grassroots level.
The day was also celebrated at Wangjing Tentha Block Sapam, Lourembam, Tentha, etc., and at Village Panchayats, schools, Anganwadi, CHCs to inspire people, particularly the youth to embrace a sustainable, stress-free lifestyle.
Group Centre, CRPF Langjing celebrated International Day of Yoga at the parade ground of the centre on Friday with the participation of CRPF Manipur and Nagaland Sector IGP Vipul Kumar, Imphal Range DIG PK Nayak, GC DIG Madan Kumar, and Manipur and Nagaland Sector DIG Duidang along with other officers and their families.
Over 60 students of Wangkhei High School along with officials of Central Bureau of Communication, Regional Office, Imphal and Press Information Bureau, Imphal participated in the celebration of the 10th International Day of Yoga held under the theme 'Yoga for Self and Society' in Imphal on Friday.
Organised by CBC, RO, Imphal and PIB Imphal, the event was attended by North East Zone additional director general Jane Namchu as chief guest while PIB director & CBC Imphal Region Dr Engam Pame, YVO Wangkhei advisor LC Ruhinikumar and Department of Yoga, Naturopathy & Physical Education, Manipur International University head Dr Kadangbam Mukta Singh were presidium members and resource persons.
Students of the school participated in the Common Yoga Protocol practices that were demonstrated by yoga trainer Dr Kadangbam Mukta Singh.
Departmental troupe of CBC RO Imphal also presented a theme-based song at the occasion.
On the other hand, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal and its constituent colleges and offices observed International Yoga Day at the university headquarters under the theme 'Yoga for Self and Society' on Friday.
The observance was attended by vice chancellor Dr Anupam Mishra alongside director of Instruction Prof Indira Sarangthem, director of Research Dr L M Garnayak, director of Extension education Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma, dedicated deans, officials, staff and students of the university.
Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Field Office in Senapati organised an Integrated Communication & Outreach Programme (ICOP) to mark the International Day of Yoga at Kanglatongbi community hall, Kangpokpi district.
The event was attended by Kanglatongbi GP former pradhan Shiva Kumar Basnet, Yoga instructor Praveen Koirala, staff of the Field Office, and locals.
A yoga awareness rally was also organised, starting from the community hall to Kanglatongbi market.
TAPASYA, a centre for performing art, celebrated the day along with World Music Day at Singjamei Wangma Pebiya Pandit Leikai as Manipur Police Training College, Pangei organised the day with the participation of its director Kabib K, assistant directors S Gautam and Md Abdul Kalam, and additional SP (adjutant) A Devananda, besides senior officers and over 100 personnel.
The 165th infantry battalion of Territorial Army (Manipur Terriers, Malom Tuliyaima), Senior Citizens' Society Khundrakpam A/C (Pangei community hall), Tamenglong district administration along with 6 Assam Rifles (Apollo Ground, Tamenglong), Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) (ADR Centre, Lamphelpat), District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Thoubal, District & Sessions Court Thoubal, district family court, Thoubal District Bar Association (TDBA), and additional public prosecutor Thoubal (conference hall of the district court complex), International Naturopathy Organisation (INO), New Delhi, Surya Foundation, New Delhi, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi, National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN), Pune, and Kha Manipur Yoga and Nature Cure Association, Kakching, Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) , field office Chandel, Imphal Region Manipur (Keithelmanbi village community hall, Chandel district), Dr Pratita Charitable Trust (Khongjom), Pherzawl district administration, NHIDCL RO Imphal (Lamphelpat), Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS jubilee hall), Asian International University (Ghari Awang Leikai), and 86 battalion CRPF also celebrated the day at their respective institutions and offices.
Alpha Company of 165 Territorial Army (H&H) Battalion, led by Company Commander Major Sudan Thapa also celebrated the day at Koirengei.
The event brought together JCOs, jawans, school children, and women to participate in yoga exercises aimed at promoting mental and physical well-being.
