RIMS Dental College gets CBCT facility

In a significant milestone, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, Dental College inaugurated North East India's first Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) Room on Friday.
In a release, RIMS PRO informed that the facility was inaugurated by RIMS director professor G Sunil Kumar Sharma in the presence of RIMS Hospital medical superintendent professor N Sanjib Singh and Dental College principal professor B Praveen Reddy.
The installation of the CBCT unit represents a major advancement in dental diagnostics and treatment planning at the institution.
The new facility will enhance the college's ability to provide high-resolution 3D imaging, which is crucial for accurate diagnosis in fields such as oral surgery, endodontics, implantology, and orthodontics, it stated.
In his address, professor G Sunil announced the installation of a state-of-the-art CT machine in the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology at the Dental College.
He noted it as one of the most advanced in dentistry, marking a major milestone for the NE region.
The new technology will enhance precision in diagnostics, dental implants, and advanced treatments.
This development significantly strengthens service quality and contributes to improved public oral health.
Prof B Praveen Reddy called the development a boon for Manipur, offering advanced dental care at low cost.
The equipment ensures safer diagnostics by reducing radiation exposure.
Importantly, RIMS Dental College is the first in the entire NE region to adopt such cutting-edge technology dedicated to enhancing patient care.
The inauguration was attended by HoDs, senior faculty, students, and staff of the Dental College, who warmly welcomed the new diagnostic facility.
This initiative reflects RIMS' commitment to advancing infrastructure and innovation in medical and dental education in the region, the release further said.
