Man convicted under POCSO Act

Imphal, May 15 2026:
A Fast Track Special Court has convicted a 31-year-old man under Section 366A IPC and Section 4 of POCSO Act for abduction and sexual assault of a minor girl in 2020 .
The convict Pangambam Sanajaoba was accused of abducting and sexually assaulting the minor girl on April 13, 2020 .
Yesterday, the Judge of the Fast Track Special Court, W Tonen, found him guilty of the crime and convicted him, and fixed May 18 for sentence hearing to announce the quantum of punishment.
Pangambam Sanajaoba Singh, hails from Nongdam Awang Leikai.
He was arrested after a complaint was filed by the victim's father accusing him of abducting his daughter on April 13, 2020 .
Pangambam Sanajaoba Singh was arrested the next day on April 14, 2020 .
The chargesheet against the accused was for trial on June 10, 2020 .
The prosecution, in order to prove the charges, produced 8 prosecution witnesses, 25 documents and 8 material objects as exhibits during the trial.
Finding the accused guilty, the Court convicted him under Section 366A IPC (abduction) and Section 4 of the POCSO Act 2012 (sexual assault), and fixed May 18 for sentence hearing.
The Court also ordered the State to pay a compensation of Rs 3 lakh to the victim.
