Imphal, May 15 2025:
Kuki-Zo MLAs, Kuki militant groups under Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement and CSOs would hold a meeting with officials of Ministry of Home Affairs at Guwahati on Friday.
Kuki-Zo MLAs, leaders of Kuki CSOs and leaders of Kuki militant groups who will take part in tomorrow's meeting reached Guwahati today.
Well placed sources informed that the meeting is likely to discuss the Kuki-Zo demand for a Separate Administration, extension of SoO agreement and the political dialogue with the Government of India and the Government of Manipur.
The meeting may also deliberate on whether the Kuki-Zo MLAs should support the demand for installation of a popular Government in Manipur, said the sources.
With the meeting likely to discuss extension of SoO agreement and the ongoing political dialogue between Kuki militant groups.
Government of India and Government of Manipur, Interlocutor AK Mishra and other officials of MHA would also attend the meeting.
However, no information is available so far whether any official of the State Government will attend the meeting.
Notably, Kuki-Zo MLAs and CSOs have not yet taken a concrete decision whether they should support formation of a popular Government in the State.
On the other hand, the ruling MLAs as well as Opposition MLAs have been demanding installation of a popular Government in the State.
Currently, the Manipur Legislative Assembly is under animated suspension in the wake of the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren which was followed by imposition of the President's Rule.
The possibility of Kuki-Zo MLAs not supporting a popular Government even if such a Govt is formed cannot be ruled out considering the fact that Kuki-Zo people did not support BJP in the last Lok Sabha election, said the sources.
