SAI Regional Director visits Sainik School Imphal

Imphal, February 14 2026: Dhandapani C, Regional Director, Sports Authority of India (SAI), visited Sainik School Imphal on February 13, 2026, to assess and bolster sports developmentin the institution.

He was accompanied by other senior officials.

The visiting delegation was welcomed by Col A Rajiv, Principal of Sainik School Imphal, who expressed gratitude for SAI's continuous support.

As per a release issued by Sainik School Imphal, the visit marked a significant step towards strengthening the sports culture and excellence at the school, benefiting cadets and aspiring athletes alike.

During the visit, Dhandapani C announced that SAI will provide dedicated coaches for the school's Football and Basketball teams to enhance training and performance.

He also announced that the existing Khelo India Sainik School Centre will be upgraded to a Centre of Excellence, further enhancing sports infrastructure and talent development The Regional Director further shared that under the proposed Khelo India 3.0 initiative, the inclusion of Hockey, Swimming, and Badminton has been recommended and is currently under consideration.

Col A Rajiv emphasized the critical importance of such institutional support in nurturing young sporting talent.
