Imphal, September 13 2026: Kshetrigao AC MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan has said that the time has come for parents and teachers to instil a sense of patriotism and social responsibility among students, to do away with the culture of selfishness and thinking only about one's own family.

He was speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of the 4th Kshetrigao Open Written Quiz Competition organised by United Youth of Kshetrigao (UYK) at KIYC, Kshetrigao.

The competition was sponsored by Sheikh Babumacha Memorial Trust.

The MLA said while learning development models, one should adopt only those that are suitable for the society after studying them thoroughly.

"We have to decide what is good and what is harmful", he added.

He said students must be taught that they are studying for the welfare of the motherland and society, not just for the comfort of their own families.

"This mindset of loving the motherland should be inculcated in students from their student days by parents and teachers", he said.

Calling for collective effort for the betterment of society without any discrimination, he urged students to stay away from drugs and become responsible citizens.

Chairperson of Kshetrigao Part-1 Gram Panchayat Md Rafi Khan, president of UYK Md Riyaz Khan and others attended the function.

Prizes were distributed to winners of the competition held in two categories.
