Health director lauds nurses on their Day

The International Nurses' Day was celebrated on Monday at the Bethesda Chapel, Muolvaiphei in Churachandpur district on Monday.
The celebration function at the district level jointly organised by GNM School of Nursing, Churachandpur, Bethesda College of Nursing and Tunnu School of Nursing was attended by director (health services) Dr Chambo Gonmei, Churachandpur CMO Dr T Vanlalkungi, district hospital MS Dr Tinglonlei Thangluai, district family welfare officer Dr Kholi Sama Monica and district hospital nursing superintendent Esther Ninglianching as presidium members.
The event held under the theme 'Our nurses-our future: Caring for nurses strengthens economies' highlighted the pivotal role of nurses in shaping healthcare and reducing economic burden of illness.
The event witnessed attendance of numerous other dignitaries, faculty members and students of the three nursing schools of the district.
In his address, Dr Chambo Gonmei lauded the selfless service and unwavering dedication of nurses for the sick and those in need.
He urged nurses to continue providing highest quality healthcare services in underserved and remotest region of the state.
Other speakers of the event also emphasized the importance of the role of the nurses terming them as a bridge between science and compassion.
Earlier, the lamp lighting ceremony was led by Bethesda College of Nursing principal Grace Rochanhlu.
