Several UG cadres held; arms, ammunition recovered

Imphal, May 11 2025: In a series of operations carried out in the past two days, police and central security forces rounded up several cadres of different proscribed outfits, and recovered large quantity of arms, ammunition and equipment from multiple locations in the valley districts, according to a statement from the police control room.

On Saturday, police arrested one NIA case accused identified as Sagolshem Sanatomba Singh (27) from Wangbal Maning Leikai, Thoubal district.

A mobile phone and two SIM cards were seized from his possession.

On the same day, two active members of KCP (PWG), identified as Ningthoujam Kiran Meitei alias Boinao (29) of Lairenkabi Mayai Leikai, and Sorokhaibam Inaocha Singh (45) of Salam Mamang Leikai, were arrested.

Both were involved in extortion from government departments and the public.

Security forces seized large quantities of ammunition of various calibres, a set of communication devices, body protection gear, mobile phones, a four-wheeler, and other equipment from them.

Separately, a large cache of arms was recovered from Sajirok Turel Mapal under Patsoi police station in Imphal West.

The haul included firearms such as SLRs, modified rifles, pistols, a flare gun, and a hand grenade without detonator.

Security forces also found additional ammunition of multiple types, bulletproof vests with plates, jungle boots, and storage bags.

One active member of an armed outfit identified as Abujam Manoj Singh (21) was also arrested from Salam Maning Leikai in Imphal West.

A mobile phone and 46 rounds of 5.56 mm calibre ammunition were seized from his possession.

On the same day, a RPF/PLA cadre identified as Sagolsem Thoithoi alias Samson (44) was apprehended from Mayang Langjing in Imphal West.

He was involved in extortion targeting government schools and civilians.

Two mobile handsets were recovered from him.

Two cadres of PREPAK (Pro), identified as Ingudam Ingocha Singh alias Borobi (48), and Sarangthem Prem-ananda Singh alias Nanao (35) were arrested from Chingarel Tejpur under Lamlai PS, Imphal East, and Wangoo Chairel Sabam under Wangoo PS in Kakching district respectively.

Ingocha was involved in logistics and supply activities, while Premananda was engaged in extortion in Kakching.

Police also arrested one Salam Kifson Luwang alias Loya (26) of Thanga Salam Leikai, a member of a UG conglomerate belonging to PREPAK, from Wahengbam Leikai Lairembi Maning in Imphal West.

He was involved in extortion from the public.

A mobile phone and Aadhaar card were seized from him.

On Friday, four active cadres of KCP (MC Progressive) were arrested from different locations.

Of them, Hidangmayum Harishankar Sharma alias Ajay (32) of Nambol Kongkham Awang Leikai, currently residing at Sagolband Thingnom Leikai, and Hidangmayum Naoba Sharma alias Nongthang (36) of Nambol Kongkham Awang Leikai, currently residing at Singjamei Thongam Leikai were arrested from Langmeidong Maning Awang Leikai, near Langmeidong police out-post, Kakching district.

The remaining two, Oinam Jeet Singh alias Sanamani (42) of Kwakeithel Takyel Leikai, and Laishram Inao Singh alias Loya alias Sanjenaha (42) of Heibongppkpi Mamang Leikai were arrested from RIMS Road Crossing near the Auto-Rickshaw parking.

Police seized pistols with magazines, live ammunition, mobile phones, vehicles, wallets, ID cards and cash from them.

On the same day, one KCP (PWG) cadre, identified as Ningombam Jiten Singh alias Bikramjit (45) of Thoubal Ningombam, Thoubal district, was arrested from the same locality along with one mobile phone and three SIM cards.

A PREPAK (Pro) cadre, identified as Khangembam Ningthem Meitei alias Tomcha (51) was also arrested from his residence at Ningel Awang Leikai, Thoubal.

He was reportedly engaged in extortion, road tax collection, and recruitment activities.

A mobile phone and two SIM cards were seized.

Police also recovered one stolen vehicle during a special drive against miscreants involved in snatching and vehicle thefts.
