Assam Rifles rolls out health initiatives across Manipur on World Health Day

The Assam Rifles demonstrated unwavering dedication to public welfare and regional harmony by launching multifaceted health initiatives across Manipur's districts for World Health Day.
Observed on April 7 under the theme "Together for Health: Stand with Science", the events highlighted scientific progress and collective action to boost community well-being.
As per a release issued by HQ IGAR( South), the day was marked by extensive medical camps and screening programmes in remote and underserved regions.
In Waroiching village (Bishnupur) and Chakpi Molbem village (Chandel), medical teams screened 234 civilians for blood pressure, weight, and BMI, offering consultations and free medicines.
In Kasong village (Kamjong), 15 medical experts checked 64 residents, focusing on early detection of seasonal and vector-borne diseases to close healthcare gaps.
Education outreach took center stage with interactive sessions on hygiene and preventive healthcare.
At St Joseph's School in Tolloi village (Ukhrul district), 65 students and staff were sensitized on scientific health practices and balanced nutrition.
The spirit of awareness was further carried to Beheng and Kangkap villages (Churachandpur), where 40 troops engaged with about 72 villagers and students to discuss waste management, safe drinking water, and the identification of communicable diseases.
Infusing energy into the celebrations, a 5 km 'Run for Health' was organised at T Khongkhai village in Sangaikot, which saw 30 local youths and children participating with immense discipline.
The physical activity was complemented by discussions on the long-term advantages of stamina and physical fitness.
Across all locations, the events saw a cumulative participation of over 500 civilians and 67 Assam Rifles personnel, reflecting a unified effort to improve the quality of life in
the region.
