Imphal, July 25 2025: The proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak-Progressive (PREPAK-Pro) extended its highest revolutionary honour and deeply condoled the sudden demise of theatre icon Ratan Thiyam.

In a condolence note, PREPAK-Pro described Ratan Thiyam as a distinguished son of Kangleipak (Manipur) known globally for his extraordinary talent in theatre.

Apart from plays and theatre, Ratan Thiyam also contributed a lot in literature and music and shouldered immense responsibilities to identify and bring up 'Kanglei' society to the global stage with his artistic brilliance.

'Ratan Thiyam was not only an inspirational figure but also a shining star to guide the Kanglei society to the right path," said the condolence note.

Though Ratan Thiyam's demise is a great loss for Kangleipak (Manipur) and the void he left would be almost impossible to fill, his creative legacy will remain etched in the hearts of the people and serve as a source of inspiration for generations, the PREPAK-Pro condolence said.

The party also shared pain and grief of Ratan Thiyam's bereaved family, relatives and the people of Kangleipak (Manipur) and prayed for peaceful repose of the departed theatre icon's soul.
