National Integration Tour: Manipur delegation continues engagements in Guwahati and Shillong

Imphal, February 20 2026:
The ongoing National Integration Tour (NIT) organised by Assam Rifles under its Civic Action Programme for Civil Society Organisation representatives from Tengnoupal, Chandel and Kakching districts of Manipur entered its Northeast phase with engagements in Guwahati and Shillong.
The delegation of 23 members, accompanied by 68 officials and troops, is undertaking a 15-day journey designed to foster national integration, broaden perspectives and strengthen grassroots interaction with governance institutions.
On Feb 18, the group arrived in Guwahati where they were received by Assam Rifles personnel and briefed on the objectives of the programme.

During their stay, participants were introduced to major national development initiatives and viewed proceedings of infrastructure projects inaugurated by the Prime Minister's Office, highlighting the Government's emphasis on connectivity, economic growth and inclusive progress in the Northeast.
The delegation then travelled to Shillong for the next ph'ase of the tour.
On February 19; they met Chandrashekhar H Vijayashankar, Governor of Meghalaya, at Raj Bhavan.
Discussions centred on youth empowerment, participatory governance and the constructive role of civil society in sustaining peace and development.
The Governor encouraged the delegates to apply their experiences towards community advancement.
Later, the group interacted with Maj Gen Jai Singh Bainsla, SM, Additional Director General, Assam Rifles, who elaborated on the force's operational mandate, border management responsibilities and civic action initiatives.
These engagements provided the delegation with valuable insights into governance priorities and reinforced the collective responsibility of all stakeholders in nation-building.
