Imphal, May 16 2025:
Rajya Sabha MP Sanajaoba Leishemba on Friday launched an indigenous smart mosquito trap called 'Zanzara', developed by local innovator Thokchom Khoiba, in a simple ceremony held at Sana Konung, Palace Compound, here.
The event was attended by Manipur University of Culture vice-chancellor Prof Paonam Gunindro, MP's nominee Thokchom Sharatchandra, and 13th Set Wet Mega Mister North East 2024 winner Martin Ireng-bam, among others.
Speaking at the launch event, Sanajaoba Leishemba praised the innovation, especially in light of rising concerns over vector-borne diseases such as malaria and dengue.
"The development of such a product without the use of harmful chemicals is commendable and is safe for public health", he remarked.
The titular king of Manipur also highlighted the inherent talents of the people of the state, adding that nurturing and utilising such skills is essential.
"Thokchom Khoiba has shown what one can do with innovative thinking," he said.
The MP further encouraged Khoiba's plans to manufacture fogging and other machines and extended best wishes for his future endeavours.
