Kangpokpi, February 16 2026:
In a robust show of humanitarian support, Assam Rifles intensified relief operations in Kangpokpi district's Saikul Subdivision, delivering over 1.25 tonnes of essential supplies to more than 853 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) reeling from recent communal violence in Manipur.
The aid responds to renewed tensions that erupted earlier this month in the Litan-Sareikhong belt, where arson and clashes forced hundreds of families from their homes.
Overcrowded relief camps managed by Saikul Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) have become lifelines, but shortages threatened vulnerable groups like children and the elderly.
Assam Rifles personnel distributed comprehensive kits, including rations and food supplies to secure nutrition for affected households; hygiene products to prevent disease outbreaks in dense camp settings; medicines and basic medical aid tailored for urgent health needs.
The operation, conducted in tight coordination with local bodies such as Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai, reached IDPs in multiple camps.
Thangkam Lupheng, president of Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai, expressed profound gratitude to the Assam Rifles for their unwavering dedication and for standing as a pillar of support during times of distress.
Community leaders acknowledged the timely intervention, stating that such coordinated efforts have helped ease immediate hardships and restore a sense of security among displaced families.
The collaboration between security forces and community organisations is viewed as a crucial step toward confidencebuilding in the conflict-affected region.
