Thoubal, October 14 2025: Khangabok Apunba Meira Paibee Lup (KHAMPAL) has demanded strict action against SDC Thoubal for allegedly raising a hand on KHAMPAL secretary Laishram Latari Devi in the afternoon of October 9 .

According to a press release issued by Moirangthem Tombi, president, KHAMPAL, the incident occurred as Latari was in the process of trying to get a death certificate.

Condemning the incident, KHAMPAL has urged the concerned authority to look into the matter and take appropriate action against SDC Thoubal Ningthoujam Manithoi Meitei (MCS) by October 20 .

Failing this, the Lup is prepared to launch democratic forms of protest including bandh, it said.

Accusing the SDC of being arrogant, subjecting people to unjustified harassment in connection with the issuance of different certificates and documents as well as disrespecting women and physically assaulting her, Latari has demanded the concerned authority to address the situation.
