Imphal, April 08 2026: In view of the prevailing law and order situation, the Government has imposed restrictions on the movement of individuals outside their residences in Imphal East and Bishnupur with effect from 10 am today and until further notice.

The order for Imphal East was issued by District Magistrate Dr Nivedita Lairenlakpam, prohibiting the movement of individuals outside their homes.

A similar order was issued by Bishnupur District Magistrate Pooja Elangbam enforcing the same restrictions in the district.

According to the orders, the prohibitory measures will not apply to the functioning of the High Court of Manipur, any other Courts or Tribunals under the jurisdiction of the High Court, Government agencies involved in maintaining law and order, and essential and emergency service providers.

In case of emergencies, such as marriage, funerals, or other essential processions within the restricted area, prior written permission must be obtained from the respective District Magistrates or the Superintendents of Police concerned.

The order emphasised that no procession shall be conducted without proper authorization.
