ASHA workers come forward to defend doctor

Imphal, December 04 2017: A day after sections of Jiribam hold protest condemning the allegations against a doctor, today ASHA workers of Jiribam staged a similar protest in front of the Emoinu Gas Agency, Babupara, Jiribam to condemn the various allegations levelled against the doctor .

Earlier on December 2 several civil organisations and Meira Paibi alleged that the doctor who was posted at the Jiribam Hospital had immoral and unacceptable relationship with a woman who the organisation did not identify.

The allegations also include misuse of hospital funds by the doctor .

On December 3, sections of Jiribam public staged a sit-in-protest in front of the Congress Bhavan Complex at Jiribam .

During the sit-in-protest, it was alleged that the doctor was a favourite for many of the patients in Jiribam for his dedications and professionalism.

The protesters had alleged that the reason behind such baseless allegations must be professional jealousy of some doctors.

The doctor had also rejected the allegations against him and had said that he was on an official tour of Borobekra Primary Health centre with H Ingomacha Singh, Chief Medical Officer when the squabble over the allegations happened in the hospital.

The doctor had appealed all concerned to stop all allegations and provide him with a peaceful environment to serve the people of Jiribam .

The doctor is a good human being and a very helpful person, read the placards at the sit-in-protest today .

“He is one good doctor and had always helped the poor,” said one ASHA worker.

He is a favourite among the poorer and downtrodden sections of Jiribam said the ASHA worker .

M Anita Devi, Supervisor of ASHA Jiribam said that he is a doctor of the people and the allegations against him are completely false.

She alleged that ASHA condemned the conspiracy to drive out the doctor from Jiribam .

With no Gynaecologist in Jiribam Hospital, the doctor have been helping the ASHA workers and under his supervision and guidance ASHA Jiribam has been serving the poor especially pregnant women .

Anita further alleged that Jiribam has no doctor like him and appealed related authorities to not transfer the doctor .

On allegation of misuse of hospital funds, the doctor rejected the allegations and clarified that hospital funds and equipment are managed and controlled by Hospital Management Society .

He further said that from August 2017 onwards, the management and control of the hospital was handed over to the Deputy Medical Superintendent.

The doctor further rejected all allegations and appealed people and concerned authorities to let him serve the people of Jiribam.
