Imphal, May 04 2025:
The armed Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has extended its condolences to the Zeliangrong youths who lost their lives in an encounter with security forces on April 29 at Dihamlai, between Kub-ing and Herakilo villages in NC Hills, Assam.
In a press release issued on Sunday, ZUF said that the slain youths' "supreme sacrifices for the cause of the Naga people" will be remembered and honoured in the history of the Zeliangrong community.
The Front expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls.
At the same time, ZUF accused NSCN-IM leadership of exploiting Zeliangrong youths under the pretext of the Naga national movement, alleging that the Naga rebel outfit is disrupting peace in Zeliangrong areas to serve vested interests.
It said rampant extortion of villagers, bureaucrats, and businesses is funding the lavish lifestyles of top NSCN-IM leaders while innocent youths are sent to risk their lives fighting their own people.
ZUF warned NSCN-IM to cease its exploitative practices and urged Zeliangrong youth serving in various factions to return and support the collective struggle for the envisioned Zeliangrong Homeland.
It said the door remains open for defectors to rejoin the mainstream cause.
Meanwhile, ZUF expressed deep concern over a recent violent land dispute between Inrianglong and Dailong villages, which Left several injured.
Describing the incident as a dark moment, the group urged both communities to resolve the conflict through dialogue, emphasising peace and unity as the strength of Zeliangrong people.
