KSO vows crackdown on teacher absenteeism

In a decisive effort to restore accountability and improve the quality of education in government run schools, the Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Sadar Hills, has announced the launch of a district-wide inspection drive to monitor the performance and attendance of government teachers in Kangpokpi district.
Expressing deep concern over the rising instances of' dereliction of duty among some government school teachers, KSO Sadar Hills stated that despite drawing regular salaries from the state exchequer, certain teachers continue to neglect their professional responsibilities - compromising not only academic standards but also the future of students in the district.
"KSO Sadar Hills and its' constituent blocks will conduct regular inspections of government schools across our jurisdiction.
Any teacher found absent without justification or failing in their duties will be reported immediately to the competent authorities for stringent disciplinary action", said K Shongreng, general secretary of KSO Sadar Hills, in an official press communique issued on Saturday.
The students' body affirmed its unwavering commitment to ensuring quality education and fostering a sense of responsibility amongeducators."We will not tolerate negligence that undermines bur children's right to a proper education.
It is imperative that teachers, as mentors and facilitators of learning, uphold the trust placed in them," the statement emphasised.
Calling for collective support, the KSO has urged students, parents, and concerned citizens to cooperate and report any instances of teacher absenteeism or misconduct.
"We believe every child deserves a conducive learning environment.
It is the shared responsibility of the community to safeguard this right," it added.
The move by KSO Sadar Hills came as part of a broader push to reform and uplift the educational landscape in the conflict-affected hill district, where students often bear the brunt of systemic lapses and administrative apathy.
The organisation reiterated its resolve, guided by its foundational principle of community service and moral stewardship, to act as a watchdog and proactive stakeholder in the pursuit of academic excellence in Kangpokpi.
