Imphal, September 26 2025:
The Lamyanba Irabot Ningsing Thouram Observation Committee (LINTOC) observed the 74th death anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at the Loktak Hall of the Manipur Press Club today.
Organized under the aegis of Protection & Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM), the event was themed "Mannaba khunai amagidamak Lamyanba Irabot," meaning "Lamyanba Irabot for an Egalitarian Society".
The programme began with floral tributes to Lamyanba's photo.
Addressing the function, PPCM convenor Oinam Premjit emphasized that merely holding the event wouldn't suffice, urging attendees to reflect on its true purpose.
He said that Manipur can join the race for development by embracing Irabot's ideals and beliefs, appealing to the people to understand and follow his vision.
Premjit also stated that a deep understanding of Manipur's issues is crucial for finding meaningful solutions.
LINTOC convenor L Shyam Khuman stated that Irabot championed strong leadership to foster an egalitarian society, but the extent to which contemporary Manipur's politicians can make independent decisions remains questionable.
He criticized politicians in Manipur for only being vocal about different issues but failing to take meaningful action, alleging that they are unable to take independent decisions that serve the State's interests.
Shyam Khuman alleged that the Government of India has been pursuing a divide-and-rule policy in Manipur, jeopardising the future of the State.
He said that Manipur needs a leader like Irabot.
LINTOC co-convenors K Thoiba, Kh Gopen Luwang, Y Tiken and PPCM advisors L Nganbi, Y Leirik Leima, S Memcha and M Purnimashi also attended the programme among others.
