Woman found brutally murdered

Imphal, September 19 2025:
A 53-year-old woman, Ningombam Ningol Naoroibam ongbi Shilla, was found brutally murdered at her home at Khurai Thoudam Leikai under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East last night around 8.45 .
Police have arrested two individuals, including an adopted child of the victim, Ayam Ronny (29), in connection with the case.
According to sources, the victim and her husband (L) Rame @ Rameshore had adopted Ronny, a relative, as their own child.
According to sources, a dispute over property and land may have led to the heinous crime.
When Ningombam Sunil (47), a relative of the victim, heard about the murder, he rushed to the scene and found Shilla lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds.
Accused Ronny was still at the scene and was later apprehended by the police along with another suspect, Naoroibam Thoiba (65) of Kangla Siphai, Ronny's uncle.
The police registered an FIR in connection with the murder case and took both accused into custody.
The victim's body was sent to the RIMS mortuary late at night after an inquest by a State forensic team.
A postmortem examination was conducted today at RIMS in the presence of a Magistrate, with full video documentation, after which the body was returned to the RIMS morgue.
Locals have formed a Joint Action Committee, demanding the arrest of all individuals involved in the crime.
They have stated that they will not allow anyone to enter the victim's premises until the investigation is complete and have refused to claim the body until all the accused are apprehended.
The arrested individuals were produced before the Court of Duty Magistrate, Imphal East, who remanded them to police custody till September 26 to facilitate further investigation.
