Imphal, May 17 2026:
The Koireng-led UNLF has called upon all the people of Manipur not to be afraid of the Government of India's announcement to finish off the liberation movement of Manipur by 2029 .
Saying that May 18 is the 'Martyrs Memorial Day' dedicated to the outfit's martyred freedom fighters, former leaders and supporters, the outfit's Central Committee, on behalf of the party and its armed wing, has paid homage to all the combatants and cadres who laid down their lives in battles fought against adversary forces, and also to all supporters.
The outfit has also paid rich tributes to all its revolutionary fighters and those of other revolutionary groups who have laid down their lives in the course of the liberation movement.
A statement issued by the outfit's Secretary of Publicity M Shak-Hen said that the legacy of the martyred freedom fighters will always remain a source of inspiration for the living revolutionary fighters.
The liberation movement has been going on for over 50 years but the movement has not yet succeeded in creating a situation which can take the movement to victory.
At the same time, the Indian armed force, which is said to be the fourth largest military in the world, is unable and will never be able to suppress the revolutionary movement of Manipur, the outfit asserted.
It appealed to all the people not to be afraid or anxious of the recent announcement of the Government of India to finish off the revolutionary movement of Manipur by 2029 .
The armed aggression launched in 2023 targeting the Meitei community by using armed Kuki illegal immigrants from Myanmar is a part of this plan, the outfit said.
People are witness to how this Kuki aggression has caused loss of many precious lives, widespread devastation, large scale displacement, economic misery and, the attempts to create discord and conflict among the Meiteis, it said.
In the meantime, a large number of Kuki and Zo people from Myanmar were brought to Manipur to raise their population substantially and make them a dominant political power in the State, according to the outfit.
Now the Government of India is preparing for the ultimate strike, both on the political and military fronts.
On the political front, the Government of India is working to give dominant political power to the Kuki and Zo people.
For this, the Government of India will complete the processes of census and delimitation forcibly, grant Indian citizenship to all Kuki and Zo illegal immigrants and balance the number of Meitei MLAs with Kuki and Zo MLAs in the State Assembly.
The number of Assembly seats for the Nagas may also see an increase while the Assembly seats in the valley will be reduced.
Moreover, a territorial council will be created for the Kuki and Zo people.
Separate territorial councils for Nagas and Meiteis may also be created.
This arrangement for the Nagas and Meiteis is meant to give a facade that territorial council is not given to Kukis alone, the outfit said.
It added that this arrangement is a policy of division aimed at using Kukis in the Government of India's efforts to suppress Meiteis and Nagas who have been waging wars against India.
On the military front, Meiteis will face brutal military crackdown when they launch any mass protest and civil movement against the creation of a territorial council for Kuki and Zo people.
Considering such a scenario, the Government of India has already started sending a large number of army and CAPF personnel to the State, it said.
The outfit said that they will face this ultimate strike of the Government of India with all their strength and resources in the line of the legacy left behind by the 'martyrs', and this battle will make the liberation of Manipur more prominent.
It then appealed to all the people to be prepared in order to defeat the Government of India's plan.
