Imphal, October 14 2025: A fact finding committee of the National People's Party (NPP) today made a spot inspection of the site where the historic Manipur Rajbari once stood.

The Manipur Rajbari located at Boyce Road, Laitumkhra, Shillong was demolished recently with the Planning and Development Authority (PDA) as the implementing agency.

The NPP fact finding committee comprising MLA Khuraijam Loken, MLA Thongam Shanti, MLA K Jamhenglung Panmei, MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan and MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar reached Shillong this morning.

The committee immediately went to Manipur Rajbari and made a spot assessment of its existing condition.

Speaking to The Sangai Express after inspecting the site, Kh Loken said that it was wrong to demolish the Rajbari building which was closely associated with the history of Manipur.

The old Rajbari building's structure could have been retained and preserved.

Even though the building was old, it could have been repaired and preserved in consultation with experts, Loken said.

He said that the fact finding committee would bring out a detailed report after further investigation.

Later in the evening, the five NPP MLAs met party president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma at Shillong.

They discussed the existing condition of Manipur Rajbari, Shillong and the situation unfolding in Manipur following the demolition of the Rajbari building.

The five MLAs from Manipur and the NPP president also talked about strengthening NPP in Manipur and ensuring a landslide victory for NPP in the 13th Manipur Legislative Assembly election which is due in early 2027 .
