Rs 4.69 Cr settled in 3rd National Lok Adalat

Altogether 298 cases with a settlement amount of Rs 4,69,31,411 were resolved during the National Lok Adalat held across the State today.
A press release issued by Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) said that the third National Lok Adalat for the year was conducted at all the District Courts as well as at the High Court of Manipur, today Justice A Bimol Singh, Judge of High Court of Manipur & Executive Chairman, MASLSA and A Guneshwar Sharma, Judge of High Court of Manipur visited the sitting of the National Lok Adalat at Lamphel Court and Thoubal Court Complex.
Addressing media persons at Lamphel Court complex, Justice A Bimol highlighted that the National Lok Adalat is held four times a year to provide speedy and amicable resolution of disputes.
Both pending Court cases and pre-litigation matters can be taken up before the Lok Adalat, he said and emphasized that any award or order passed by the Lok Adalat shall be deemed final.
He also stated that traditional litigation entails considerable expenditure of time and financial resources, whereas disputes brought before the Lok Adalat are resolved expeditiously and without incurring such costs.
Justice Bimol urged the public to make use of this alternative dispute resolution mechanism by presenting their pending as well as pre-litigation matters before the appropriate District Legal Services Authority or Court, so that the same may be listed for amicable settlement during the next National Lok Adalat scheduled on December 13, 2025.In addition, a 90-day special mediation campaign is being organized across all districts of Manipur as per the direction of the Supreme Court of India, he said and maintained that disputes can be referred for mediation, where trained mediators will facilitate amicable settlements.
A total of 3595 cases comprising both pre-litigation matters and civil cases pending adjudication before the Courts were listed for amicable settlement during the Lok Adalat held across the State today, he said and continued that the cases listed includes both pre-litigation and civil cases such as matrimonial disputes, bank recovery cases, MACT cases, Negotiable Instrument Act cases, land acquisition cases, electricity and water bill cases and telephone bill matters.

Y Rother, District & Sessions Judge, Imphal West; N Lanleima, District & Sessions Judge, Imphal East and Ashem Tarunakumari Devi, Addl Sessions Judge (FTC), CAW, Manipur presided as chairpersons of three benches of National Lok Adalat held at the Lamphel Court Complex.
Alek Muivah, Member Secretary of MASLSA stated that the fourth and final National Lok Adalat for the year will be held on December 13.He appealed to all the public and stakeholders to resolve their cases and disputes by availing the services of National Lok Adalat.
