Imphal, February 12:
With the marketing officer of the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) depot at Chingmeirong allegedly subjecting them to lot of difficulties in emptying their oil tankers at the depot, Petroleum tanker drivers have launched a hands off steering stir from today demanding removal of the said officer.
Announcing this during a press conference at Sangakpham today, president of All Manipur Petroleum Tankers' Drivers Union Y Bhupenchandra Ghosh said the drivers of the oil tanker drivers are being harassed.
|
Elucidating, Ghosh informed although the marketing officer of the IOC depot Amar Jyoti Bordoloi and Supervisor PC Kumar contended that the quantity of the fuel lifted by the oil tankers are lesser by 100 to 200 litres and the same recorded in the challan, they fail to make necessary measure to top up required quantity at the time of emptying the oil tankers at the depot.
He explained as per the rules, in case the quantity of the oil filled and brought by the drivers is found to be less then IOC should top up the required quantity.
However, the same has not been done.
Now the a situation has raised where the drivers have been to provide the required quantity.
The drivers have nothing to gain if the quantity of the oil lifted was found to be less at the time of filling up the tankers in the first place, he said, adding that the Union would welcome verification of the fuel lifted by the drivers by an expert committee.
While informing that during September and October last year, drivers have brought and deposited sufficient quantity of Kerosene and the challan issued, he also appealed to all concerned to find out where the Kerosene has disappeared.
Apart from not providing proper parking space, the markting officer has also been levying Rs 200 for issuing pass for six months validity to enter the oil depot.
