Imphal, July 11 2025:
After an understanding was reached between POL transporters and the Guwahati-based IOAOD State Office Chief General Manager at a meeting held today at Malom Depot, the POL transporters have agreed to set off for Silchar for fuel transportation from Saturday.
All Manipur Petroleum Product Transporter Association president A Tamphayai told The Sangai Express that they held a meeting with officials of Malom Depot and the Guwahati-based IOAOD State Office Chief General Manager this afternoon.
During the meeting, the Chief General Manager emphasised the obligation of hiring one helper/cleaner for each tank truck.
Citing a strong instruction from the Ministry of Petroleum, the Chief General Manager appealed to the POL transporters to provide one helper/cleaner for each tank truck.
The POL transporters replied that they have been working to provide helpers/cleaners.
But searching for helpers/cleaners is quite difficult at present because of the protracted violent crisis.
TTs are not provided with helpers/ cleaners as very few people are willing to work as helpers/cleaners at present, the POL transporters said at the meeting.
Nonetheless, the meeting arrived at an understanding on the assurance of the POL transporters that they would make every effort to provide tank trucks with helpers/cleaners.
The POL transporters also agreed to send tank trucks for ferrying fuels from July 12, Tamphayai said.
